I just read this book on women in film and figure that cats can do it too! I’m working on the screenplay, but basically the premise is that this family of cats is adopted from a shelter by the owner of this huge hotel in the middle of nowhere that only operates in the summer. During the winter the father cat, Mack, faces his demons while chasing mice that really aren’t there and scurrying after his kitten, Lanny, with his claws bared. His catwife, Mendy, is very thin and frail but supports Mack until she starts to recognize his growing madness and attempts to escape with her kittens. I really can’t give away any more of the details, but it’s cold out and there is a chase scene through the snow involving farm equipment.
